Yesterday I saw an orange New Beetle. I love cars. And this “orange” that seemed so eccentric and powerful reminded me a picture I saw in LinkedIn. ​ The picture compares two parking lots. ​ One in the 70s and another one today. ​ In the 70s, you had a rainbow of colours. Green, blue, red, yellow, orange… Different tones… ​ If you go today to a parking lot, you’ll see black, white, a few grey and fewer red and blue. ​ We are in a world where it’s better not to grab attention. To go with the flow. Unnoticed. No personality. Just one number more. ​ And average brings average results. And mediocrity brings mediocre results. ​ Only a few that stand up get noticed. And criticized. And we hate to be criticized. This is why, black, white and a few grey. ​ But, sorry… only those that do things differently have a chance. Only those that go beyond of what’s expected, that challenge the status quo, that wake up with hunger for making things better. And in his late 50s… after being at the top in uncountable projects, deciding over the lives of hundreds of employees, contractors and subcontractors. He feels vulnerable.
