A few days ago, I had a big argument with my team in Panama. They had spent almost 3 weeks trying to convince a client to change banks for her mortgage. It was a no-brainer. They showed her, over and over again, different scenarios⌠all in vain. You may wonder how, after 2 or 3 days of trying, they kept pushing. She is a public servant. I repeat. You could see it from miles away. No matter the numbers. Why? Obvious. Every purchase is emotional. Then you justify it with whatever rational argument you can find. âA friend told me about a bad experience with a private bank.â Etc. You may have strong arguments to counter all of that. The decision was already made. Look. Do whatever you want with this information. If you understand the emotion game, you wonât just understand how the world works⌠Youâll win. In the next mentorship session, Iâll show you:

Or worse⌠the âplease donât print this emailâ line. Iâve reviewed bids where they were one step away from including the name and breed of the bid managerâs dog. Horror vacui. Or just⌠âjust in caseâ. Every extra word that doesnât serve a purpose?...
In Japan, they often say: âYour life is like a garden.â If youâre not intentional⌠it gets overrun with weeds. Randomness. Distraction. Noise. This happens when you have too many goals. Too many priorities. Because let me tell you something. If you donât have a clear maximum of 3 priorities⌠you have none. You get distracted. With lesser goals. Stupid goals. Or worse⌠scrolling. Looking for your next dopamine hit. This applies to your life. But also to how you work. If your door is always...
Hospital PPPs have a bad reputation. Delays. Overpricing. Rigidity. Youâve heard the stories. I remember when I work at ACS that any RFP announcement of a hospital was received as the last Trumpâs tweet⌠We didnât know what to do about⌠Letâs now talk about the Alzira Hospital PPP in Spain. Launched in 1999. First of its kind. A full model: Design. Build. Finance. Operate. Not just the building. Healthcare delivery. High risk. High exposure. High scrutiny. And still⌠It worked. Well⌠somehow....
